Sir. Dennis Thatcher

One of the best spam/scam messages that I’ve seen in quite some time — luckily Thunderbird’s spam filter missed it or I might never have seen it…

Dear Sir

We are Attorneys and Executor of the estate of Late Sir. Dennis Thatcher, I wish to notify you that late Sir. Dennis Thatcher, made you a beneficiary to his will. He left the sum of Three Hundred and Fifty Thousand Pounds Sterling (350,000 BPS) to you in the codicil and last testament to his will. This may sound strange and unbelievable to you, but it is real and true. Being a widely traveled man, he must have been in contact with you in the past or simply you were nominated to him by one of his numerous Friends abroad that wished you good.

Mmm hmmm? Thats why you sent it from a free webmail account in Germany is it? Thought so.

The e-mail address it was received from is R.V.Alzander@yahoo.com.

Thought you might be interested that there is someone else using the same gimmick as others.

Out of curiosity, will you investigate to see where this came from? I would be interested in knowing.

Thank you.

I’m not going to investigate it any further, I just bunged it in the spam bin :)

My guess is that it’s one of the many 419 scams originating in Nigeria.

7. Will Harwood

This one’s getting more widespread and clever — made me look hard enough to find this website and speed it into the spam bin.…! (My surname’s Harwood, by the way)

I got mine today. I responded that if they are going to try to scam me, at least get the spelling right (it’s supposed to be “Denis” not “Dennis”)

Idiots.

Actually, quite frankly, the commentary is more interesting messages themselves. (Not to insult the author, of course:))
