That is indeed an ugly and badly coded site. If I'm correct in my assumption from context that "utter pants" is bad and "the dog's bollocks" is good, then I agree wholeheartedly with the above comments. Divided by a common language and all that. Congrats, I stumbled across this page as the only Google result for "example of tag soup" (quotes included in the query). If I may nitpick for a moment, when you say "It’s like the semantic web never happened," you may mean "semantic markup." The Semantic Web, Sir Tim Berners-Lee's darling, has indeed never happened, at least not yet. It involves endowing the web with machine-readability using RDF, ontologies, etc. When it's all done, it will blow your socks off and you'll be able to automatically find answers to all of your questions by writing Prolog.

i worked at hope for many years and i have to tell you they think the site is the dogs bollocks, they even have an award hanging on the wall for web site design, i tried to convince them it was a piece of shit but they would just point at the award, please email the designer and brother of the big boss (Allan) to tell him what you really think info@hopetechology.com

Haha thats like some kids uber geek homepage they made using a template off a php template site. The sort you find for gaming forums and the like. All it was missing was some nice flash animation on the logo :-)
